Mission to Mexico July 2009
The past summer 10 youth and adults from Crossroads served at Rio Bravo Ministries in Reynosa MX. We spent our time doing hard labor, playing with children, doing devotions, evangelizing, and overall had some fun. Ray Hansen who was the founder of the ministry, told us his story of how he started Rio Bravo. The previous dump is now a home for 80 children. The Iowa and Louisiana groups worked hard on completing a flood plain for a septic system. Shoveling rock and dirt in wheelbarrows seemed exhausting, but God gave us the strength. Each night we played with the children and had devotions together using the acronym of R.E.Y.N.O.S.A. Each letter had a corresponding word and verse. Everyone had the opportunity to lead each night. . Using the “Redeemer Skit”, 40 children came to Christ during evangelism in the colinias. Four teenagers from the orphanage come to devotions and we heard there testimonies. As a group we felt called to share our testimonies. We grew us closer together as a group. We grew closer to God individually. For some of us we thought our story didn’t matter; but in God’s eyes every story matters. We went down planning to be a blessing but ended up being blessed by the people of Rio Bravo.
Currently we are planning next years trip July 30th-August 8th. Our goal is to send 40 people to serve at Rio Bravo. Fundraisers will be happening monthly. If you are interested
