Kids Against Hunger

On Friday November 20, the JR High Youth Group went and did some mission work up in Mankato. They packaged food with the organization called "Kids Against Hunger".  http://www.kidsagainsthungermankato.com/WhatisKidsAgainstHunger/tabid/55/Default.aspx

14 Youth and 4 adults went up to Mankato and packaged enough fully nutritional meals to feed 3,240 of God's starving children all over the world.  GREAT JOB!

Thank you for your support of prayers and donations to the youth group.Encourage them as they start thier mission endevor.

Kids Against Hunger is a volunteer-driven effort to package food locally and distribute that food around the world where the need is great.

Kids Against Hunger not only nourishes hungry children, but the spirit of its volunteers. Each week, as volunteers package hundreds of much-needed food servings, they also get a chance to talk, share, laugh and reconnect with one another through the program. More importantly, through their packaging efforts, volunteers learn and reaffirm the importance of looking beyond themselves and towards serving the needs of others.

Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit organizationwith the mission to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the US and to feed starving children throughout the world.

They are accomplishing this global objective by making it easy for volunteers to get involved at food packaging stations throughout the US, and - through partnerships with humanitarian organizations worldwide - delivering their specially formulated rice-soy casserole to children and their families in over 40 countries. The Kids Against Hunger network currently includes 30 food packaging stations in 16 states.  Every person going will pack at least 100 meals per hour, and as many as 300 meals per person per hour.

Kids Against Hunger was founded in March 1999 by Richard Proudfit, a successful entrepreneur. In 1974 Richard volunteered on a medical mission to Honduras after Hurricane Fifi had ravaged that country.  Profoundly affected by the starvation he saw among the children there, he made a decision to commit his life and financial resources to solving the enormous problem of world hunger. His life’s work became clear to him – help feed the children of the world.

Richard Proudfit enlisted leading executives at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills, and Archer Daniels Midland to formulate a food that would meet all the nutritional requirements of severely malnourished children to aid physical growth and mental development. The result was the creation of a balanced, high nutrition food that can reverse the starvation process and restore a child’s health and mental alertness.

Their revolutionary food package has been developed by some of the world's leading food scientists at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and ADM. This one package provides six nutritionally-complete servings for only 23 cents per serving.

With every person packing at least 100 meals per hour, that means each person will at least package $23 worth per hour. If a person packs 300 meals per hour, then that's $69 per person per hour!  This includes all that they need to get the meals to the children. So the range that the JR High youth are trying to reaise per person would be as little as $20 and as much as $100 each!  Each person going is to try to do the best they can to fund the meals they pack so please help as much as you can!
